Steel from FDNY Arrives in Shanksville on August 24

The Cross shaped piece of steel from the North Tower of the World Trade Center arrived and was dedicated on August 24th at the fire station here in Shanksville. Hundreds of motorcycles, Engine 343, FDNY firefighters in lClass A's and a delegation of bagpipers from the FDNYs Emerald Society arrived on scene that Sunday morning to present the cross to the Shanksville firefighters. Around 1000 people watched the memorial service for those who perished on 9-11 and to dedicate the cross. According to Ret. Lt. Paddy Concannon the event which started at Floyd Bennet Field in Brooklyn on Saturday the 23rd was like no other benefit he has ever been on. The support of onlookers on overpasses from N.Y. to Shanksville was unbelievable.
