Shanksville is a small, quiet, and hardworking rural town in the Laurel Mountains of Western Pennsylvania.  The town has a population of 250 people.  Located within the Borough, the Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department provides fire, emergency medical services (EMS), and various types of rescue, including SCUBA.  The Department covers a fire district of approximately 65 square miles with an approximate population of 3,000.  This includes 3 municipalities: Shanksville Borough, Indian Lake Borough, and Stonycreek Township.  We also provide emergency services for 15 miles of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.  The Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department currently has 38 active members.

August 24th, 10:00 a.m.-- Iron and Steel Run Ceremony and unveiling of World Trade Center Steel presented to Station 627 by F.D.N.Y. Fire Family Transport
