Shanksville is a small, quiet, and hardworking rural town in the Laurel Mountains of Western Pennsylvania. The town has a population of 250 people. Located within the Borough, the Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department provides fire, emergency medical services (EMS), and various types of rescue, including SCUBA. The Department covers a fire district of approximately 62 square miles with an approximate population of 2,500. This includes 3 municipalities: Shanksville Borough, Indian Lake Borough, and Stonycreek Township. We also provide emergency services for 15 miles of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The Shanksville Volunteer Fire Department currently has 28 active members.
